MoE Builds Additional Classrooms to Address Overcrowded Schools.

The Ministry of Education (MoE) is continuously working to address the pressing issue of overcrowded schools across the country. This initiative is aimed at providing a conducive learning environment for all students, teachers, and school communities, recognizing that a well-structured educational setting is vital for effective teaching and learning. Overcrowded classrooms can significantly hinder the educational experience, leading to challenges such as reduced individual attention for students, increased stress on teachers, and a lack of adequate resources.

In a recent statement, the MoE outlined its comprehensive approach to tackling this issue, which includes the construction of new additional classrooms utilizing the Industrial Building System (IBS) method. This innovative construction technique is designed to expedite the building process while maintaining high standards of quality and safety. The use of IBS not only allows for faster construction times but also minimizes disruption to the ongoing educational activities within the school environment.
Alongside the new classrooms, the initiative will also encompass the development of other essential facilities, making it a short-term yet effective solution for high-density schools facing significant enrollment pressures. The implementation of the IBS method, combined with the use of Pre-Approved Plan (PAP) drawings, is strategically designed to ensure a streamlined construction process. This approach is expected to lead to a remarkably short construction period, with the goal of having the new facilities completed within the same year they are initiated. Such efficiency is crucial in addressing the immediate needs of overcrowded schools and ensuring that students can benefit from improved learning conditions without undue delays.
As part of this initiative, a total of 121 overcrowded schools across seven states have been identified to receive new additional classrooms. This effort will not only cater to mainstream education but will also extend support to the Integrated Special Education Programme (PPKI), which is essential for providing inclusive education opportunities for students with special needs. The focus on both mainstream and special education highlights the MoE's commitment to ensuring that all students, regardless of their educational requirements, have access to quality learning environments.

In addition to constructing new classrooms, the project will also include the provision of necessary infrastructure facilities and equipment. This encompasses a range of teaching tools, modern educational resources, and appropriate furniture, all of which are integral to creating an effective learning atmosphere. The overall investment in this project amounts to RM88 million, reflecting the government's dedication to enhancing the educational landscape and addressing the challenges posed by overcrowded schools. By allocating substantial resources to this initiative, the MoE aims to foster an environment where both students and teachers can thrive, ultimately contributing to improved educational outcomes across the nation.
